30 Lies about Money: Outline

Much has been written about money - how to invest, save, become a millionaire, get out of debt, find financial freedom, change the monetary system, manage a business, hedge or save taxes. So what makes this book stand out from those already in the bookshops?

Written for lay reader and expert alike, 30 Lies is a response to a newly emerging trend, where peoples' interest in money is not just to try and make more of it. But to understand better the causes of the increasingly contradictory money world they find themselves in. Some of the issues: income inequity, increasing stress in making ends meet, decay of social systems, evaporation of pensions, polarisation of wealth, third-world indebtedness, Enrons and more. This book promises a simple understanding of these issues.

But it goes further. This book not only exposes misleading flaws and “lies” in many universally accepted and unquestioned assumptions about money - it dissolves them!

Design

The book is designed in 30 sections, corresponding to the Lies, plus one encore. The text as a whole contains a process, designed to be read from start to finish. It builds up to a climax/conclusion at the end - equivalent to a seminal point in the author’s money seminar*. From this point on, the reader can work out further conclusions by him/herself, but a second and third book are envisaged which will reinforce the readers’ own experiences. The design is such that the revelation of the “lies”, particularly when the recommended chronology is followed, brings for most people a sense of something being "freed up", a movement beyond a simple mental understanding. This AHA/freeing offers the person the option to make a break with the status quo if he/she wishes, translating both into a primary aspect of life (health, job, career planning etc.); and simultaneously an expansion of capacity in relation to handling money.

*Note: Process and content are taken from the author's experiential money seminars.
